FORT WAYNE – The Fort Wayne High School Hockey League enters its seventh week of play tonight at the McMillen Ice Rink.
Homestead leads the group of six teams with a 5-0-1 record and a total of 11 points. Snider is in second place at 3-1-2 with eight points. Carroll and Northrop are presently tied for third place at 3-2-1 with seven points. New Haven and North Side, two teams with young and somewhat inexperienced line-ups, are in fifth place (NH is 1-4-1 with 3 points) and sixth place (SS is 0-6-0 with 0 points).
“We have a veteran squad this season and thus far, the team is playing rather well,” said Homestead coach Jim Glick. "We have two players (Jarred Gidley and Justin Glick) in the top five of points scored, along with two goal-keepers (Blake Spurgeon and Nick Rahn) who are at the top of the goalie stat lists (goals against average and overall wins)."
Wednesday should be another interesting evening at the McMillen Ice Rink. Snider takes on Northrop, who boasts the leading point getter on offense and in goals scored in B.J. Lomow. Homestead goes against North Side, as the Spartans hope to keep their record in tact. Finally, New Haven battles Carroll, as the Chargers hope to get back to their winning ways, after last week's tough loss to Homestead.
