FORT WAYNE – Wednesday is here and that means Fort Wayne area high school hockey is in action.
Homestead still leads the area standings with a 6-0-1 record and 13 total points. Snider is second with a 4-1-2 record and 10 points. Carroll is a close third place with a 4-2-1 record and nine points. Northrop is in the middle of the pack with a 3-3-1 record and seven points. Bringing up the tail end of the league standings are New Haven (1-5-1 with three points) and North Side (0-7-0 with no points). Both New Haven and North Side are experiencing down seasons with many young and inexperienced players.
Tonight’s schedule finds: New Haven battling North Side; Carroll taking on Northrop; and Homestead facing off with Snider.
Stats-wise, Northrop has the top two leading scorers in the league, as B.J. Lomow and Derek Moss both have 10 goals to their credit. Jared Gidley of Homestead is second with nine goals scored, while Tyler Mason of Carroll, Justin Glick of Homestead, Kyle Howell of Snider, and Ryan Matteson of New Haven all have seven goals apiece.
